LODI-Robert “Bob” Ness, age 84, passed away on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on Sept. 5, 1927, in Lodi, the son of Thomas and Verna (VonWald) Ness. Bob married Dolores Clemens on June 29, 1950, at St. Patrick Church in Lodi. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. Bob worked for Oscar Mayer for 39 years, and retired in 1989. He is survived by his wife; sisters, Darlene Brisky, Donna (George) Ripp, Ardis (Leon) Achterberg, and Audrey (David) Attoe; brothers, Dale (Alice) Ness, Thomas (Judy) Ness, Richard “Tack” (Connie) Ness, Charles Ness, Donald (Jean) Ness, and James (Chris) Ness; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister , Joyce Lochner; and brothers-in-law, Raymond Lochner and Robert Brisky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PATRICK CHURCH, 521 Fair St., Lodi, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, with Father Francisco Higuera presiding. Burial will be at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery with military rites being conducted. Visitation will be held at HAMRE-GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 157 S. Main St., Lodi, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., with a rosary service at 5 p.m., on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday.
