MAPLE BLUFF-Kathy Hanson, age 62, of Maple Bluff, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at her home. She was born on Aug. 23, 1949, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, the daughter of Ken and Bonnie Millard. Kathy graduated from Central High School in Madison. Throughout her life she had medical problems. She was a survivor of 17 aneurysms and impressed everyone with her resilience and optimism. Kathy was a warm and caring mother to Carrie and Curtis. She spent her life giving to others. Kathy was compassionate, generous, and kind. More than once, she opened her home to those in need from all walks of life. Kathy had a long and prosperous career at Bell Telephone Company where she was a Central Office Technician. Her co-workers enjoyed her sense of humor and her hard work. Kathy is survived by her husband, David; two children, Carrie (Damon) Burger and Curtis Hanson; grandchildren, Madison Marie Burger, and another on the way; mother, Bonnie McCulley; siblings, Ken (Barbara) Millard, Linda Millard-Palm, Randall Millard, Debra Whitley-Thoms, Marilyn (Bruce) Gruebling-Govier, Richard Millard, and Brian (Cheryl) Millard; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Ken Millard. A Celebration of Kathy’s Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from noon until the time of service on Sunday. The Celebration of Kathy’s Life will continue at the Esquire Club, 1025 N. Sherman Avenue, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kathy’s name, to the charity of donor’s choice.
