Smail, LeRoy H.

MADISON-LeRoy H. Smail, age 74, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Hospice. He was born on March 23, 1935, in Platteville, the son of Harvey and Grenadene (Stephens) Smail. LeRoy served in the U. S. Army. He was an electrical engineer for more than 30 years for the United States Naval Ordnance. LeRoy enjoyed hunting, and genealogy for the Stephens and Smail families. He is survived by his sisters, Beverly (Raymond) Conklin of Cottage Grove and Shirley Christensen (Curt Sorenson) of Stoughton; brothers, Ronald (Theresa) Smail of Anderson, S.C., Paul (Janet) Smail of Palm Desert, Calif., Leonard (Pam) Winge of Monona, and Bill (Carol) Winge of Cottage Grove; step brother, Alvin (Flora) Winge of Poway, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2010, with the Rev. John Ruppenthal presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2010.
