MADISON - Mary J. Rees, age 81, of Madison passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Hospice Care Center. She was born on Aug. 11, 1928, the daughter of Vincent and Irene (Linde) Sullivan, in Madison. Mary married Ire Rees on Feb. 20, 1953 in Fort Leonardwood, Mo. She enjoyed spending time reading. Mary is survived by her husband, Ire; daughter, Kathy Rees; son, Bill (Teresa) Rees; granddaughter, Ashley (fiancé, Ben Lyke) Rees; sisters-in-law, Clara Sullivan and Shirley Sullivan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Robert Sullivan. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. A special thank you to Dr. Kostelyna, all the doctors and nurses at St. Mary's Hospital, and everyone at the Ellen and Peter Johnson Hospice Center for the care they gave Mary.
