Spahn, Lois Ann Sampson

VERONA/SUN PRAIRIE-Lois Ann Sampson Spahn, age 78, of Verona, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with diabetes on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Rest Haven Health Care Center. She was born on Aug. 6, 1931, in Madison, the daughter of Lyle and Anna (Wigsmoen) Sampson. Lois graduated from Stoughton High School. As a teenager, she worked in a soda shop in Stoughton. Lois married William H. Spahn on Oct. 7, 1950. Together they raised a family in Sun Prairie. She was a waitress at Angelo’s and Rhodes. Lois enjoyed ceramics, word search, bowling, playing cards, trips to Las Vegas with friends, and cruises. She is survived by four children, Karen (Greg) Sheil of Sun Prairie, Jenifer (Michael) Bender of Madison, Susan Spahn of Madison, and William (Cher) Spahn II of Poynette; five grandchildren, Jessica Anderson, Jared Bender, Tyler Wood, Nicole Spahn and Willie Spahn III; a great-grandson, Michael Anderson; a brother, Lyle (Joanne) Sampson; ex-husband, William (Marlene) Spahn; and many nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Burgess (Bonnie) Sampson. Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2010. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
