MIDDLETON-Urban J. Bram, “Urbie”, age 88, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, February 2, 2010. He was born on February 5, 1921, in Springfield, the son of Mathias and Anna (Schuetz) Bram. Urban was united in marriage to the love of his life, Betty J. Brown on December 30, 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1987. Urban was a very king and giving person who would do anything to help anyone and he never once complained. He always had something good to say. He very much enjoyed helping his sons with their home remodeling over the years as well as helping out two very special neighbors, Dewey Stendahl and John Sibley. He was a World War II veteran having proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater 16th Signal Operations. Urban worked as a painter for the State of Wisconsin for many years, retiring in 1986. He was an avid cook, wine maker, bowler and euchre player and was a gifted remodeler. Urban is survived by a daughter, Lynn Hegge of Las Vegas, NV.; two sons, Scott (Debra) Bram of Middleton, Patrick (Lisa) Bram of Prairie du Sac; seven grandchildren, Mark, Rhonda, Brian, Mitchell, Dylan, Lacey and Jacob; and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Victor (Louise) Bram of Middleton; a sister, MaryAnn (Gilbert) Dahmen of Waunakee and a sister-in-law, Agnes Bram of Middleton. In addition to his wife, Betty J. Bram, Urban was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers, Nick, Wilbert, Raymond, Edgar, Mathias, Henry, Richard and Florian. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 6, 2010, with Monsignor Joseph P. Higgins presiding. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton and also on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
