MADISON-Dorothy A. "Dottie" Karasek, age 86, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at HospiceCare, surrounded by her family. She was born on Nov. 7, 1923, in Wausau, the daughter of Richard and Bertha (TePaske) VanderGeest. Dottie married Leo Karasek on Jan. 22, 1946, in Fennimore. They owned and operated Duck Creek Campground for more than 20 years. Dottie was a devoted wife and mother, and loved spending time with family and friends. She also loved to cook and crochet. Dottie is survived by her children, Carol (Pat) Tesar of Edgerton, Ruth (William) Anderson of Superior, Linda (Dave) Jones of Poynette, David Karasek (special friend, Sue) of Stoughton, Roger Karasek of Madison, Dirk (Mary) Karasek of Oregon, and Brenda (Hans) Lein of Edgerton; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; parents; and sisters, Elsie VanderGeest and Delhia Dittmer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, with Father Francis J. Schmidt presiding. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. A special thank you to the staff at Meriter Hospital and also the staff at Hospice. Dottie will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
