MADISON-LeRoy Franklin, age 68, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital. He was born on March 18, 1944, in South Carolina, the son of Jannie M. Dash and Herman Franklin. LeRoy retired from Octopus Car Wash, and also worked as a brick mason and for Greyhound Bus Company. He was a big brother and mentor to many children. LeRoy was a fun-loving guy, and will be deeply missed. He was a loving brother and is survived by his siblings, Herman Franklin Jr. of Madison, Annie B. Miller of Orangeburg, S.C., Edward E. (Debra J.) Franklin of Madison, Norma (Thomas) Stroman of Orangeburg, S.C., Carl (Vivian) Franklin of Madison, and Allen Franklin of Madison; stepmother, Rose Franklin of Orangeburg, S.C.; stepsister, Dorothy Dash of Orangeburg, S.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at MT. ZION BAPTIST CHURCH, 2019 Fisher Street, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012, with the Rev. Richard L. Jones presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or Mt. Zion Baptist Church. A special thank you to Oak Park Place of Madison.
