Obituary:MADISON-Stanley L. Wampole, age 88, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Oakwood Meadows. He was born on Feb. 26, 1924, in Osseo, the son of Robert and Elsie (Ames) Wampole. He married Iris Mashin on Oct. 23, 1948, in Neilsville. Stanley served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was employed by the Madison Public Schools for more than 20 years. Stanley was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He loved the outdoors and animals. Stanley enjoyed working with children and loved babies. He is survived by his wife, Iris; children, Cheryle Wampole, Rhonda (Jim) Croxson, Vickie (Steve) Erdahl, and Doug (Alice) Wampole all of Madison; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and seven siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents; and eight siblings. Funeral services will be at the GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2012, with the Rev. Bernt Tweit presiding. Luncheon to the follow the service. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, with military honors being conducted. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Research or Agrace HospiceCare. The family would like to thank the staffs at Oakwood East and Agrace HospiceCare for their care and compassion.
